      and relying on the tables for the rest. Don't want to carry too much, as it gets to be a hindrance...Suggestions?

      Aimee, in a 50k you can use GU and sport drinks and be OK. I would to the drop bag just in case if the food supplies are running low at the aid stations. Some people enjoy solid foods like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or bagels. The nutrtion for a 50k is familiar to a marathon. As the distance increases to a 50 or 100 mile races solid food needs to added. Go with what works for you
