Poor Planning led to a poor run. Noted: summer is here and so are the hot temps.

My game plan was to run 13 miles in and around 10K pace. But at 7am temps were at 70 degrees and getting hotter. Gauging my hydration and sweat out put I knew I was in trouble early. Although I had heavy legs I had enough stamina in them to go long. But my body wasn't ready for the hot sun. I had no shade until I approached mile 6 and by then I was toast and out of fluids. I had to stop and resync..no major issues which is good. I only lost two pounds of fluids (which I confirmed later) but mid run I knew it was time to call it. At this stage a run is a run. I'm ahead of schedule on mileage..compared to this time last year. I might not be ready for next weeks race, but my goal race is not next week..so I'm not worried.

I will need to schedule a competitive race sometime soon to gauge my race fitness. But I'm undecided on the distance. It will either be a 10 miler or half marathon..at least I know that much. :)
