RUN
injured 4.01 mi 00:44 10:55 pace
Nice slow run but the posterior tibial tendon on my left leg is really starting to bother me. Why do I struggle with this tendon so badly?
-
Aaron, the posterior tibial tendon is slow to recover from trauma due to the weak blood supply in that part of the body. A lot of runners have trouble there. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of rehab options, with the exception of orthotics, avoiding over use, improving running stride, or adopting a strategic post-trauma program.

yeah I usually have a pretty good program after a run but the soreness has just been adding up. I suffer from this and do some exercises to strengthen the tendon but for some reason it just keep getting to me. Going to bike for the rest of the week and see how it feels on Monday.

WOW!
I can probably write a lot about this run. Took a good three miles to feel comfortable. Some rain, wind and a chill but very glad that I went out on the run. You can see the map of it here ... read more

Nice Job:
Great job, Aaron. I ran early this AM, so I know how crummy it is outside. Good work fighting off the weather, the a-hole driver, and your anger. Fantastic work. Keep it going.

RUN
good 7 mi 01:15 10:38 pace
Ran the first 3 miles or so at E's pace (little less than 12 min. miles). Then ran the last four on my own in a little more than 38 minutes. Pretty satisfied with that result come to think of it.

Nice job, Aaron. Way to support E and achieve your goals too.

RUN
alright Beginning of week 7 5 mi 00:50 09:55 pace

-
Try running on an 1% incline for your treadmills runs. 2 and 3 percent is OK for warmups and treadmill walking, but you'll kill yourself on anything more than 1% until you build more endurance. Plus, 1% is generally considered good enough to replicate the slope you'll run outdoors. Otherwise, nice start to your week; take care of your "tweaks."

Thanks for the info Brian. I have been using my Monday runs with an incline prior to this as well. At 1% for a minute at a time - totaling 4-5 minutes during the run. So it isn't something new even though I made it out to be in the summary.

Glad you're on the mend. 2 months isn't that long a period in the long run. It took me 15 months to get back to even after busting up my ankle and I regret not finding other activities to stay active while healing; please don't make that mistake. Stay in the game; 2 months is nothing.
