Tobacco Road Marathon in Cary, NC
Went out slow [8:03 1st mile] & tried to keep the pace fairly even, between 7:50 & 7:30 depending if the grade was slightly uphill or downhill. Only had one rough mile [#24 - ran 8:35], where even though it was downhill, I ran slower as I thought both hamstrings would cramp at any second. Then I was able to pick it back up for the last 1.2mi. All in all, I resisted any thought of 'racing', going fast to get a personal record, but I indeed did run a whopping 2 seconds faster than last year! That's 7 hundredths of a second per mile!
Half split - 1:40:09; Full - 3:22:23
Due to my ever increasing age, this does qualify me for the 2011 Boston Marathon!
