The suspects : Hardtail Dale, Wrath of Kahn Shawn, Moneyshot Chris, moi.
Temps +3C but nasty nasty 27 km/hr wind bursts, 79% humidity.
416 meter elevation gain.
The call was Rose Valley / Jabba & the Fantastic Four concurred. Going across the Bridge - the wind was up from the Southwest - so she was a nasty crosswind. All good - we soldier on and no real side by side riding.
I led a paceline from Horozon Drive to Hudson - straight into the wind. Oy that was nasty. I didn't realize it but we dropped Chris like he was a bad habit. Shit - he's not 100 tonite. So we wait for him and apologize. He's laughing - all good.
So we climb up to McDougall Ridge and start on the Rose Valley FSR. Well - slush city. Riding the bike thru this was tough. It was grabby, you spun out, LOT'S of resistance. Once momentum was at play - it was just keeping the tyres out of the the car tracks. Stay in the virgin snow - all good.
At this time we all agree climbing Jabba is going to be dangerous with this slush. Well - let's at least GET to Jabba and say we did. Slogged it on and made it.
Yah - the trail was unrideable. We could've walked it - but that would have been hours. Turned around - and gingerly made it back thru the slush to tarmac.
Hwy 97 from Hudson was - of course - a fricking sprint. Shawn cut off at Horizon to get home. Dale, Chris, & I made it blitzy to the Campbell Rd exit.
Thos two blitzed across the Bridge side by side. No thanks I said. Those cross winds could make a nasty crash. All good - Dale won. Ha ha ha
