      3460 feet of climbing is quite lumpy if you've only got 59 miles to spread them on. I guess I would have suffered with Jules. Well done you for sticking with him.

      @John - I'm still using my winter road bike. Audax type bike - mudguards make sense to me when the roads are wet and mucky. If the good weather continues I'll break out the summer machine :-)

      Again 26, thank you for taking us along on this ride. I can feel the 8 mph into the wind as well as the exhaustion despite the granny gear. You certainly know how to put the body in places that require great endurance.

      I've been using SPD520's ever since I've had my road bike, and love them. I'm clicked in while others are still struggling. Regarding your ride, No camera needed. Your clear descriptions sufficed just fine.
