Goal #1: Complete Jingle Bell Run on Sunday in 33 minutes or less.

Goal #2: Eat like an athlete, not like a member of the fast food nation.

  • Oooo! Have fun at the Jingle Bell Run! I need to find a cheap race to do sometime soon...

  • What are your eating plans? What does an athlete eat like (to you)? I keep hearing about the Paleo and Zone plans but I would die without bread, noodles.

I just avoid anything low-fat or low-sugar. At least what I put in tastes great.

  • I guess I'm really all about moderation. There's nothing I'm really willing to deprive myself of if I really want it. But it has to be in moderation.

I'm trying to avoid hitting the fast food joints at lunch, and am instead opting for soup, salad, or a sandwich from home. Packing a lunch has been huge for me. I'm trying to eat more fruits and vegetables. I'm trying to eat more yogurt. I've been doing oatmeal for breakfast (in an effort to bring down the cholesterol which was a little elevated last time I saw the doc. Stupid genetics. Stupid yummy food.) I'm trying to plan dinners for the family that aren't super fat laden and contain more vegetables and whole grains. We eat a lot of poultry and lean meats.

I'm not much into following a certain "diet" as much as I am just trying to be aware of what I'm eating and making sure it isn't all McDonald's and Doritos and beer.

(This said after gorging myself on Sesame Chicken after going out for Chinese food with the family. OOPS!!)

  • Goal Results

#1: I completed the race in 32 & some change. So yay!
#2: Other than overindulging in both Chinese food on Friday and Pizza tonight, I had a good week.
