1st Day was today, looking for tips

Running on the beach in the sand and rocks, its more private and my dog can run at the same time. I know I can do this program if I stick with it. I used to run when I was in my 20's and absolutely loved it. Just need advice and motivation now that I am in my 50's!

  • Hi, Carol:

Welcome to the program! Today was Week 6, Day 1 for me, and I'm pretty amazed at having made it this far. It definitely does work, and times when I've been unsure if I was prepared for the next challenge I've decided to trust the training with good results.

The only bit of advice I can offer is to be patient. Run on the run days and rest on the rest days. Don't try to go too fast too soon. Allow your body to adapt to the new demands you are placing on it, and it will!

I'm looking forward to graduating from the program in a few weeks, and I hope to hear about how it works for you too. :-)

    Live well,

    Lesa

How's it going? I saw this post was from a month ago and wanted to check in. I'm on W1D2 and feeling okay but would love to hear from someone a little further along. ;)

  • Hi Carol,

I was pretty out of shape when I started Couch to 5K, but when I hit workout 6.3, I found that I didn't even need to time myself - I could just jog/run until I got tired, and inevitably made it past the time that C25K called for. I feel great! And I'm now working towards my first half marathon.

My aunt is also following C25K, and is struggling a little with it, but she's keeping at it, repeating workouts when her body tells her she needs to.

I hope you're keeping up with the program and it's going well!
    -Em
