I did W4D1 last night. So far it's been going pretty well! Now that I've finished the first W4 workout, I'm hoping that W5 won't be so scary. I'm really excited to get to the point where I can run 3 miles straight. I just joined dailymile last week and am hoping it will help motivate me to stick with it!

  • I did W6D3 yesterday, I am SO psyched. Have lost 10 lbs and 12 inches in 6 weeks, no dieting and have pushed through each and every workout and am going to keep pushing!

  • How encouraging to read of other people's success with the c25k program! I found it over a year ago, and due to injuries, have yet to complete it. So, I'm starting from W1D1 today. I just joined dailymile a few days ago, and it seems to be a great tool for keeping track of workouts, and finding motivation. I can't wait to hear more about others' progress on the c25k.

  • I completed it 2 weeks ago. Due to an injury and fitness level, it took me 12 weeks to complete it. During those 12 weeks, I lost 25 lbs. after having lost 50 lbs. in the 6 months prior to the plan. I've settled on the Gateway to 8K series to keep moving and improving. The C25K was the metabolism boost I needed and now I'm half way to my goal weight!

  • I actually completed the program about four months ago, but never participated in a 5k. I have been running and cycling since then. I'm running in my first 5k event at the end of October, so I'm alternating back and forth between weeks 8 and 9 workouts for the next few weeks to be totally prepared.

  • I am in W3D3. Feeling really good about my progress. Trying to convince myself to actually sign up for a 5k in December.

  • I've completed the program! I began in...egad...May, and ran my first 5k last weekend with a predicted time of 39:15. During the four months up to the race I suffered from an ankle sprain that sidelined me for a month and the brutal Texas summer heat!

For those of you who are just starting or who are part-way through...DO NOT LOSE HOPE. I'm nearly 38 years old and have never been a runner. I guess with 40 looming on the horizon I thought it was time to challenge both my body and my spirit, LOL.

Good luck to all you C25Kers! Hang in there with the program, and do not worry if you have to repeat weeks or if it seems like you'll never get anywhere. I about died my first 1-minute run at the beginning of the program, and thought I'd never get any further. Now though, I can run for 30 minutes straight and although I'm pretty slow, I have never been prouder of myself or more confident in what I can do when I set my mind to it.

    Good luck everyone!

  • I'm starting Couch to 5k tomorrow. A little bit nervous. I've tried starting running on my own, but I've felt like I haven't gotten anywhere. It's a bit frustrating, but I ran into someone at a holiday party who's a runner and she suggested I try Couch to 5k to get started with running.

    Hi, Stacy:

I just joined Dailymile, and saw your post -- I'm about in the same boat as you back in May, it sounds like. I'm 38, acutely aware of my 40th birthday coming up, and feeling determined to run *toward* that milestone instead of *away* from it. LOL

I have just over a year to get there.

Congrats on running your first 5K -- that's really an inspiration from where I'm standing!

    Best,

    -- Lesa

  • Tomorrow will be W6D3...yikes! I do 12 min miles, so I may just do 2 miles (24 min), and then do a week of 2 miles before I move to 2.5! I like baby steps!

  • I'm just starting out, again. I got to W3D1 in the fall before twisted my ankle(completely unrelated to working out unfortunately) and then took the cold winter off so I'm just now starting back up and I just completed W1D2 today. I think my biggest issue with that I need to learn to control is the urge to run too fast during the initial warm up. I get outside and I get moving an it all feels so great that its hard to control pace, then suddenly by the 2nd or third running phase I've hit my wall...it somewhat of a vicious cycle that I'm hoping gets better with time.

  • Hi all,
I'm fairly new here at Daily Mile but I love it already.

I've been running for 7 weeks but with little focus and I started off barely able to run for a minute straight. I've been a little unfocused so I'm going to try the C25K plan. My trainer says I should be able to start at week 4 so that's the plan. I'm going out later today or tomorrow to try it.

And, yes, I'm kind of nervous about it!

  • Hi everyone,
I'm a brand-newbie to both running and the dailymile.com. Today will be W2D2. Monday's 90 sec runs nearly killed me, but I'm going to tough it through today again! Good luck everyone!

  • I just finished W4D3 about 15 minutes ago. My first 5k is on 6/6 and I'm feeling good about doing a run/walk combo. If it falls on a workout day, I may just put on my headphones and do the program during. I LOVE THIS PROGRAM! I'm 5'8, 250 lbs. And, I'm jogging! I love it!

  • I got to W4 D1 last week, then injured my knee. The dr said it looked like torn cartilage or miniscus, so I wasn't allowed to run or even walk quickly for several days. Today I started to slowly work myself back into the program by only doing half of the W4 workout. I'm hoping my knee cooperates!

  • I just did W2D1 today. It was actually my first time running since early March. I'd left for vacation and never got back on the horse. But W1 was repeated a few times and I felt I'd be fine skipping to W2. Started off surprisingly well, and very motivated!

  • I finished the program with my first 5k (first race) this past weekend. It was a blast and the C25K was the perfect way to get back into running after 25 years. I would not have stuck with it without the structure I am certain. I was able to run at a good pace the entire 5k.

I am also now 18lbs lighter, my blood pressure is 15 points better both systolic and dystolic, and my resting heart rate is down 20 beats. I feel physically and mentally 1000% better!!!! :)

  • Hi all. I'm new here and new to running as well. I never thought that I could run. I don't know how I got that into my head but it's been the theory I've been going on for over 40 years! Well, I started the c25k program and today I'll be running Week 5 Day 2. While I'm nervous about the 20 min. continuous on Day 3, I am confident that I'll be able to do it. Afterall, a short time ago, I couldn't run a city block!

  • Tomorrow will be W1D3, and to add some motivation to my doing C25K, I signed up for a 5K race on November 20th. My goal isn't to win, but to be able to run the entire thing.

I live in Vegas and it feels like 900 degrees most days, so for now, I'm running on a treadmill. I figure that I'll finish the C25K program indoors and have 1 month to transition to running on the road before the race.

  • Well, technically I'm W0D1. Started a few weeks ago but had a lot of problems with my knees, so took a few days off. Then for the last week I've been walking my milage. Going to give it one more week of walking, then try W1 again. Bound and determined to get through it, even if it takes more weeks than prescribed (which seems to be the case with a lot of folks). But happy I found DM for the support and encouragement. No races where I live but will try the virtual race called the Worldwide Festival of Races on 9-10 October.
