Couch to 5K

Just started ...

I just started the C25K program last week, but week #1 barely got my heart rate up, so I skipped it and started week #2. Was this a good idea?

Also, any other ideas or helpful hints?

  • Also, for those of you using the timed version, what rates are you running/ walking at (or would suggest)? I'm walking at a 3.6mph and running at a 5mph right now, but I'm hoping to increase my speed once I build up some endurance.

  • You may find the opposite is true- your speed declines as you work toward longer runs. It's easy to run 7mph for 1 minute; when you get to the longer runs its harder to sustain faster speeds.

    I was running at 5.5 w1 and w2/3. By week 4 i was at 5mph and week 5 I was at 4.7 which is where I remain.

I did switch to the distance goals during week 5 so that when i finished c25k i could say i truly graduated and could run a 5k.
