I, Red Ninja, rode out on the highway in blowing snow once many years ago. I was quickly becoming invisible to traffic and I was four miles from my lair. Somehow someone spotted me even though I was in stealth mode. They were in emergency services and gave me their warm coat with reflective markings so that no one would attack me. Hiyah!

Seattle doesn't get crazy weather. But we had a foot of snow a year and a bit ago. 30 mi for 2 weeks in that is rather tough.

Not going to be cold, but when I lived in Central Mexico I got caught out in one of the mountain down pours that dropped about six inches in three hours and rode home in mud so deep at times it was up to the bottom bracket. Nothing like trying to descend a steep hill when you think you are ridding a snow board on ice.

Earlier this month, I was inspired (is that the right word?) by Red Ninja to put on all my warm clothes and ride in 5*F degree wind chill. Got a mile out and turned around. Hands were about to fall off. I will say, with the right gloves, I would have gotten further--the rest of me was fine. I ordered new ones, but they turned out to be discontinued and had to reorder. Coming soon. For now, high 30's will be my limit.

My last Peninsula and Back ride was tough as hell! This was last mont, and I was on the Metroparks trail in NE Ohio. The winds were 15 to 20 mile gust and the was a lot of snow and ice still on the ground. Temps were in the mid 30's so some snow was melting but the trail that had no snow was sopping wet! It was like biking in quicksand.. ughhhh. Anyways I plugged in 28 miles, and I've been biking most of the winter too.
