Running = low flexibility?

posted over 2 years ago | Report

I have never been all that flexible but it seems like the more I run the less flexible I get. I stretch after every run (and every other workout, too). I feel like yoga is good for my mind and my running but sometimes I feel silly not being able to do some of these poses very well at all.
A few days ago the teacher came to check on me to see if if I was doing a pose correctly because I just didn't look like I was stretching at all.
Anyone else have this issue?

  • I'd recommend to stick to it and practice regularly. You'll be amazed how fast your flexibility develops. I think it may be a little harder as a runner especially if you're a competitive person. Yoga isn't competitive, but you do reach milestones that encourage you - like touching the floor or keeping you heels down in downward dog or a holding a balancing pose. Keep at it. You'll really be pleased.
