I'd recommend to stick to it and practice regularly. You'll be amazed how fast your flexibility develops. I think it may be a little harder as a runner especially if you're a competitive person. Yoga isn't competitive, but you do reach milestones that encourage you - like touching the floor or keeping you heels down in downward dog or a holding a balancing pose. Keep at it. You'll really be pleased.
