Stow Area Run

posted over 2 years ago | Report

My friend and I are going to do a 10 miler on Saturday. With no regard to weather, does anyone know a good marked course to run 5 out and 5 back? Towpath? Peninsula? What's close?

Towpath is sooooooooo boring. What about going to Peninsula and doing the Ledges trail, thats roughly about 5, so you could do it 2 and its so pretty

  • Ledges trail sounds good. Can you give me a starting point? I am looking through the web site but it lists it as 2 miles and I am not even sure how you get in.

    Thanks tons!

I see it does say the actual trail is only 2 mi, I just did in the Run for Regis and it was just over 5 mi long - they started at the Ledges Shelter / Cuyahoga Valley Natational Park

701 Truxell Road, Peninsula, Ohio 44264

    LOOP A (5.2 miles):
Follow gravel service road to connector abandoned road to Ledges Trail head. (see link at end of the instructions for a visual example)
Right at Ledges Trail head then sharp left onto Octagon/Happy Days Trail Head
Left at Haskell Run thru field at Happy Days, through tunnel under Route 303.
Cross field and enter Boston Run Trail at 2nd entrance. (Aid station will be in the grass at Happy Days parking lot)
Complete Boston Run Trail and trace steps back to Ledges Shelter to begin Loop B.
(USATF Route of beginning of Loop A until on Boston Run Trail: www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=334362

    Loop B was very hilly
    LOOP B (8.1 miles):
Thru field to gravel service road, turn left and follow Ledges Trail to Pine Grove Connector (see link at end of these instructions for a visual example)
Turn left onto connector to Pine Grove Trail. Take first right and follow Pine Grove Trail counter-clockwise until connector to Kendall Lake is reached. Take connector to Kendall Lake entrance off of Truxell Road.
Cross Truxell Road and turn left onto Lake Trail and follow it to the Lake Trail/Cross Country Trail intersection.
Turn right and run down hill to Kendall Lake Shelter (aid station at shelter by the fireplace and restrooms).
Proceed past shelter on grass parallel to lake and return to Lake Trail via the Toboggan chute.
Take right on Lake Trail to Salt Run Trail and run Salt Run Trail in the clockwise direction (turn left when entering trail).
After completing Salt Run, trace steps back to Kendall Lake Shelter, proceed through parking lot, cross Truxell Road, connect to Pine Grove Trail, turn RIGHT and follow connector back to Ledges Trail. Upon reaching Ledges Trail, turn RIGHT and follow Ledges Trail up the hill and to the Start/Finish Line, completing Loop B.
(USATF Route of beginning of Loop B until on Pine Grove Trail: www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=334372)
