First you have to assess how serious you want to be. If you want to be serious then by all means get a good book on training and racing and pick up some tips from there. I used to use The Competive Runners Handbook. It gave a simplified 10-week program including such things as hill repeats, track intervals and long runs, that would round me into shape to do decently in races. I would map out and write down my workouts in advance for the training and racing season. Always keep a taining log. Lastly plan some resting time between seasons. Good luck!

Thanks Mike. I'm still in the phase where I'm just getting miles in the legs. I have found a club near the town where I live and since I've found it they've staged three races, so that's a good sign. I think that when I join, they're likely to tell me to wait until next season before racing, so I'll just keep doing the daily rides until then. I do intend to take it seriously. Have a good weekend.

HaHaHa. Your funny. I find that the more people I tell about my goals, the more I talk about it. The more it becomes a reality. Good Luck! I'll enjoy watching your progress.
