Yep, you're allowed. I'll be 54 in a couple of weeks. I'm sure there are a couple of us who are over 50 in this group!

I just turned 40 a few weeks ago but I've never felt better! In the last year, in preparation of turning 40, I've lost 72 lbs and have developed a solid workout schedule and even discovered a love of cycling! I hadn't been on a bike since I was 17, but all of a sudden...I ride whenever I get the chance and LOVE it!!
Never been more pleased...I hope you're all rockin' 40 and beyond!
cheers!

Yes, the daily mile is an inspiration. I am enjoying my discovery of passion towards cycling and am training to be able to participate in local events--most of my group are youngster and are a tremendous source of inspiration.
Also finding, the fat does not go away from you very easily! It is a tactical fight with your body and I hope to win sometime.posted over 2 years ago | Report

i'm turning 45 in 2 days - and have told myself that it's "Enough!" enough of the excuses and reasons why "I can't" my 45th year will be the year of I will and I can and NO excuses! You're post is motivating - any tips on sticking with it it? and do you cross train at all, or is it all strictly cycling?

Hi,
Welcome.
I started my Gym plan Apr 08 and weekly cycling from Oct 08.
Was very difficult during the first three months. Results on weight reduction showed up after six months. Finally lost a bit over 22 pounds over a year's period and was able to maintain. Joined a group of young cyclists and now the weekend rides have turned into a daily affair. On the weekdays I ride Solo.
My weight still scares me of runnng, though I do a bit of weights and a good amount of stretches as a part of my cross training. Hoping to be in a shape to start running next year!!

45 here. Started running again almost 5 months ago. Last time I ran seriously before that was 10 years ago. Was down to 180ish pounds back then, but ballooned up to 234 in 2008. Got down to below 200 again that year through dieting alone, and gained most of it back in 2009. Now I'm back down to 205 mostly through running. Trying to eat better, but not really "dieting" per se. Once I get down to my target weight (around 175), I'll be able to say that I'm in the best shape of my life. Not bad for an old dude. :)
