Join us at the corners of the intersection of Fee Lane and 45/46 "bypass" on Friday, Aug. 27, 4 - 6 pm, to peacefully present the possibility for another approach to the current expansion of the "bypass." It is NOT too late. TV news crews have been invited. Large posters and banners will be available, and you can also make your own. Invite everyone in your networks. Thanks

Written by Sarah Ryterbrand and submitted to the H-T. Not sure if it will be published, but have a feeling there's some info in here that will be of interest to the group.
To the editor:
How does the Bypass widening possibly serve the myriad of Bloomington’s downtown merchants? Why has the Bloomington Chamber of Commerc...e pushed this agenda item so relentlessly? One only needs to explore the property transfers in the H-T to discover that the Chamber’s CEO/President, Christy Gillenwater, and her hubby have been purchasing up properties along SR 45/46 in speculative anticipation of this day. Is it any wonder then that she would decide this project was a top priority for the Chamber? I wonder whose interests Ms. Gillenwater is really promoting.
A group of people were willing to think outside the box, which apparently holds the INDOT engineers prisoner. They created a document, “Bypassing Good Judgment”, found at http://www.b-top.org/bypass/bypassing_good_judgment.pdf It details how the congestion on the Bypass can be addressed, while moving traffic, while considering pedestrians and bicyclists, and without the massive environmental destruction. All of this at a fraction of the cost.
The governor can still put a stop to this knee-jerk waste of funds, which are needed to maintain our county’s roads and bridges. I urge you to call the governor today 317-931-3076 end_of_the_skype_highlighting. Too many trees have already been lost in the name of progress.
