Hexane in veggie burgers...?

The above is a link to an article regarding a study produced by The Cornucopia Institute. As a meat minimalist who eats fake meat products, I was shocked to read the information in this article concerning how soy used in fake meat products is processed with hexane. The Institute as well as the article report that hexane is a neurotoxin, the long term effects of which have yet to be studied on humans. Even more shocking, in a cursory search of the internet, I haven't found any reaction to the accusation of negative health effects from the companies that produce the fake meat products, nor from the FDA. As an athlete and a person who tries to be aware of what she eats, I am surprised and disappointed by this chemical's involvement in the production of my food.

If anyone has any more information (especially those scientists out there!) or thoughts on the issue, please feel free to comment!
