Just Started CE This Week

My name is Lori-Ann and I just started CE this week. This program, put out by beachbody.com, is basically a 90-day commitment to weight training 3 times a week and 45 minute cardio sessions 2 days a week. There are also two brief ab sessions that you can do on the same days as your cardio if that is a problem area for you.

As someone who can spend 60-90 minutes at the gym, I was skeptical that the 30 minute weight training sessions would do anything for me. I bought the program per the advice of friends who had phenominal results, but was I not convinced it would be right for me.

Well, lemme tell ya, since ChaLEAN stresses proper form and slow movement, 30 minutes with her is about all you can take. LOL

When I'm done with the work outs, I KNOW I have worked out. For this reason, I would not recommend this program to someone whose been sitting on the couch for years.

If you've never lifted weights and/or haven't exercised in a long time, I would recommend getting into the swing of things for a time before getting this program.

That said, although I have just started, I can't imagine anyone honestly applying themselves to the program and NOT having results at the end of 90 days. By the end of each weight training session, I am drenched in sweat and out-of-breath, as if I just did cardio.

Each muscle group is touched on and the program is complete-- you will stretch, warm-up, weight train, do cardio and pay extra attention to your abs if you need it.

Although I have lost 100 pounds, I still have about another 100 to lose so there are instances where I must modify to make the program work for me.

I've only recently begun to do squats and lunges in proper form as I was soooooooo heavy that my legs literally couldn't hold up my body weight in those positions. I still cannot do plank position or standard push-ups. I know that I will be able to eventually if I keep at it, just as I was able to work up to squats, lunges and dead lifts.

A 5-day a week commitment seems rough-- but as I said, the weight training days are only 30-minutes. Most of us, if we are honest, would admit that we waste that much time a day either online, watching TV or some other activity that does nothing for our health.

Two 45-minute cardio sessions and three 30-minute strength training sessions only add up to a three-hour a week commitment and I think it would be a rare person who could say in all honesty that they don't have the time for it.

So I am giving this program an honest effort for 90-days and from there I may try one of the other beachbody programs.

I will post my progress and experieces here from time-to-time.

  • Do you do this with other cardio as well? I'm considering trying it while still keeping up my 3x a week running schedule. (CE in the AM, running in the PM)
