Mine were a mixed bag. I never took time off to let any of them heal, so there were some that I let be, and they healed by themselves. If they were too big to do that I drained them and let them heal. There were also a couple that I drained but the skin would not re-form, so I cut those off and let the new skin work up.
In almost all situations, blisters mean you are doing it wrong. Something is sliding and allowing the friction to build up. I had blisters constantly for about 1 month with a reminder to fix my form now and again. I've also talked to barefoot Rick and he talked about encountering them for about 2 months.
Sorry for the late response!

I'm a bit late to the party but when I get blisters I just drain them immediately, and although they are not completely healed the next day, then tend to be healed enough to run again. I have in the past thrown some tape over it just to not get it too dirty, but mostly I just go.
