Level I Certification

posted over 3 years ago | Report

Have any of you taken the CrossFit Level I Certification yet? I've been contemplating it for a year and was planning on it last summer, but by the time I had my schedule figured out, it'd already be sold out. I may have to fly across the country, but maybe a nice Seattle or San Diego certification will save my wallet a little bit.

One of my new year's goals is to take the CF Level I Cert. Hopefully, I'll also knock these CrossFit certs out this year, too:

Olympic Lifting Certification (missed this by a weekend in Union City, California, across the bridge from me.)
Basic Barbell Certification (considered taking this in Oakland, but scheduling conflicts prevented me)
Running & Endurance Certification (almost took it in Flagstaff, AZ last year, but realized that I live at sea level and doing a running cert at 7000 feet AMSL is probably not a great idea).
Kettlebell Certification (missed this one, due to lack of protein in the wallet)
Gymnastics Certification (I never notice this one until a few weeks after it's over and moved across the country)

The only certification I've ever seen in San Francisco or in the South Bay area is Nutrition. Running & Endurance was offered in Redwood City, 15 miles from me, but cancelled before I could sign up.

What certs are you interested in taking?

  • I'm doing the running and endurance cert at the end of the month in San Antonio. I've been doing CFE-style workouts for my running now for a few months, and I can't believe the gains I'm seeing. I'm just hoping it translates to the pool as easily, since I'm running my first half-iron in July and plan on using CFE to train for all of it.

At some point, I want to get my level 1, but I have a long way to go on form for some of the lifts before I want to go to the cert.

I'm really looking forward to the Running & Endurance Certification, because I really want to lock down my running form and get POSE right without necessarily feeling like I'm always running on tip toes to get the form right.

I did that on Saturday's run and now my lower legs are definitely letting me know about it.
