Good question . . . I'm also looking into the belts, but they seem like they'd be bulky and uncomfortable. Any comments?

I used a 2 liter Camel Back for all of my long runs when I was training for the Marathon. A common complaint is that the noise of sloshing bothers some people. However, it doesn't slosh around if you get all the air out. You can get all the air out by holding it upside down so that the air bubble is at the top, where the tube comes out, and sucking out all the air.

I use two hand helds, one with water and one with my performance drink. Then I usually make loops every 6 - 7 miles and refuel. I didn't like the belts because they would ride up and the camel back made my upper trapezius cramp up. It's all personal preference I think!

I have two belts, both from Nathan. One with two bottles and a larger one with 4 bottles.
I dont need to carry more at any one time than will fit into the 4 bottles, there have allways been places where i can fill up. The belt frees up my hands and arms, and keeps the load close to my center. When running i try to restrict drinking to every 5k to simulate the spacing of the refreshment stations in most runs around here. If its cold i go with the lighter 2 bottle belt.
The belts dont get in the way of my arm motion at all, when i first started using them the bulk was a little annoying, and it took a while until i figured out how tight to make them to avoid bounce, but now i hardly notice them at all, and in winter when filled with hot tea, they keep my lower back toasty warm for the first half hour ( I keep them under my jacket )

I wear a belt. I can't stand having stuff in my hands during a run. I found like Paul that it was very easy to ignore once I used it a couple times.

I run with an Amphipod Full Tilt. Love it. My long runs are in a 3 mile circular track so I stash 2 extra bottles at one point. I leave them frozen and they are ready by the time I need them. I run in Puerto Rico so even at 5:00am its over 70F!
