My blog -- http://mikebuteau.wordpress.com/
documents my road to my first marathon - NYC on Nov. 1.It might be a pipe dream, but I started with an initial goal of breaking 3:30. I have since upped the stakes and now have a goal of breaking 3:16 and qualifying for Boston. You only live once, so you might as well give it everything you have.
To quote 67-year-old Arthur Webb, who has completed the 135-mile Badwater Ultramarathon through Death Valley 12 times. "I'd rather die living than live dying."
Good luck to all...posted over 3 years ago | Report

Here's my blog but must mention that its the half-marathon to marathon journey on this one. My first half marathon is in two weeks, and I'm going to pace my wife I think. (she doesnt want to do on her own) I have a couple half's already scheduled for next year, and am pretty sure my first full marathon will be in the fall of 2010, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

I'm training for a May 1, 2010 marathon in Beaumont, Texas: The Gusher Marathon. It's named after the Lucas Gusher at the Spindletop oil fields that began the Texas oil boom in the early 1900's.
My blog, Running Green, is a chronicle of my passion for running, my marathon training, and my passion for Green Living.

I am a role player and video game geek, and along with many of my friends I suffer from being out of shape. I have started a blog and am trying to establish a group geared towards fitness programs for gamers and geeks. The initial content will document my preparation for the Warrior Dash in May 2010, which will be my first marathon (of sorts). I figure it fits the topic of this thread.

How funny is this! I'm making a few t-shirts to wear when I train, with little motivational things on them. The name of your blog, "Ko'ox tun," is going on one of them.

Wow this is awesome! I'm going to make sure to check all your blogs out!
I'm working up to my first Marathon in September 2010. The blog tracking my journey to the finish line is at http://www.corsolameta.blogspot.com
'Corso la meta' is Italian and means 'you have reached your goal'. It was the phrase written on a banner at the end of a rennaisance era footrace in the city of Verona.
Today's blog post - Take the quiz to check if you're a running nerd!

12 weeks till my first Marathon... just hit my first 40 mile week! Starting to focus on nutrition strategies. Goal was initially to finish but as I'm working harder I'm starting to zero in on a time goal.

My hubby and I are gonig to start really focusing on training for the Seattle marathon Monday. The run is on November 25th, so we have a 22 week training program. We run quite often right now so I'm excited to up our miles and more than ready. We are going to do a few races in between, a 5k, a 10k trail run, a sprint triathlon and a half marathon, so those will all be at good spots in our training program to get them in and have some fun along the way!! Check out my blog if you'd like too.... http://funmomontherun78.blogspot.com/

Hey........my name is Doug and I live in Albany, GA. To make a long story short, I started running about 4 years ago. Had never raced competively before in my life, but wanted to train for a marathon (of all races!!!!).....and run one. Not only run, but finish! I did and a few more since then. Several days ago, I googled "marathon blogs" to see what other people were going through in their training. Not sure why.....because I've never read a blog......until I read yours. The 1st site that was pulled up was this site: "1st time marathon runner's blog". Wanted to read something fairly recent, scrolled down, and saw your website that was posted 4 months ago. Per chance, I clicked on "spining spirals" and started reading your posts. Absolutely enjoyed reading your July/June writings. I can relate to so much that you've said. Have been hesitant about responding......but in the end, well.......decided to let you know that you are a really good "blogger"!

I'm doing the Long Beach marathon, my first marathon, in October of this year. I will be using the Amiigo fitness band to help me analyze my training runs leading up to the race. The Amiigo band not only will record the GPS path of my run, the distance, time, and speed, but it will also monitor the blood oxygen levels, heart rate, skin temperature, sleep patterns, and all my calories burned. I'm really excited to use the Amiigo during the race, and using it to make me the best marathon runner I can be.
I suggest to all other first time marathon runners, investing in this band, it will not only help in analyzing your running, but with overall health. http://igg.me/p/239460/x/2515655
