I'm still a beginner...but it's great to "connect" with other McCain'rs from around the world...so this will help keep me motivated!
I'm running to keep in shape and to try to do my first 1/2 marathon near the end of September!

Hi Mary,
Good idea.
But.. since I'm not a very experienced user of social networks.. where can we post these pictures in the Group-page. Or.. does it need to be posted on our own 'profile' page?Regards,
Elwin.

On the page before this one...there is a "tab" for discussions and another tab for "photos" - so that is where I put my pictures. Elwin....your photos would be perfect here! I've been on your blog and would love to see more of what you do. You are an inspiration!

Well.. You in turn got me motivated here, Mary, I will certainly now!
By tomorrow, hope I got some pics posted, and before you know, you're all off the asphalt and into the woods and hills.. ;-)
(However, we got a great advantage here in Europe: No bears and other big furry things rying to catch rides during a run.. ;-)
Though, today, I did break with habits, kept to the asphalt, doing the 'Dam to Dam' run, the biggest run in NL (34,000 competitors!), 10 miles sunboiling asphalt.. ;-). But you know, I couldn't let the McCain group NL down.. 15 of the 'GoldenStar' people competing! Will post the results later.
How was the ½ mrthn at your end?
Best regards,

I still consider myself a beginning runner.
I used to run in my teens and early 20;s but got away from it for a long time. I started running again about 2 years ago and do so as part of a complete lifestyle change. I am a recovering alcoholic and haven't had a drink in almost 2 1/2 years. Running has provided great therapy for me in my quest to stay sober.
I'm looking forward to running in my first 1/2 marathon on Oct 25 in Moncton - Legs for Literacy.

I am a beginner runner - off and on depending on time constraints. I run basically to keep in shape and improve my cardio. I prefer areobics/exercise classes, but these don't provide me with the total cardio needed.

Hi, I work for the McCain Learning Centre as the Global Leadership Learning Program Manager, located in Appleton, Wisconsin. I have been running off and on for my whole life. I recently got inspired after the birth of our second son and couldn't lose the weight so I started running again and it worked. It took me a while, but I lost the weight. More recently Mary McNevin challenged her team to run a half marathon in the local area....never ever dreaming I would do one...let alone RUN the entire thing. I have to say, my initial goal was to run 7-8 miles and then run-walk the rest.....I was still feeling good by mile 10 and ended up running the entire 13.1 miles. If you would have asked me prior to the marathon I never would of thought I could have done it. It is amazing what the inspiration of other do to your energy and stamina. It was the most amazing experience.
