DM Meetup at Epcot on the day of the race?

posted about 2 years ago | Report

Hi, everyone! The race is getting close! So, from what I've heard of this race, we are supposed to arrive at Epcot at 4 a.m. for a 6 a.m. race. I am traveling to Disney with my husband and two young children and running the race solo. My travel companions will be taking advantage of my antics to get some extra sleep and rest. So I'll be heading over to Epcot alone and am trying to coordinate a meet-up of anyone who would like to join me! Having never done one of these races before, i couldn't tell you where a good place to meet would be, but hopefully someone can offer some guidance and we can figure it out... maybe I'll make a DM sign or something.
I'm staying at the Port Orleans, so if anyone else is there and wants to bus over together, let me know! Thanks!

  • Hi Maryjo! I am staying at the All Star Sports resort, but I am going with a big group of women from the Cafemom.com running group, and I'm pretty sure some of them are staying at Port Orleans. I'm going to gather the info, and I'll get back to you with those ladies names!

Also, I LOVE the idea of meeting up at the Epcot parkinglot/corrals before hand. Let's put this into action ladies! I'll make a big sign so you can find me :)

  • My friend and I are staying at Port Orleans. Would be glad to meet with you. The friend I am running with is a cancer survivor and has actually just gotten over pneumonia, so her pace is not that great right now. I have promised her I would stick with her during the race though even though she keeps insisting I run it at my normal pace. So I would be glad to meet up, but will be sticking near my friend for running. It would be great to meet you ladies!! I am a shy girl, so you will have to excuse me if I am quiet at first.;) Once you get me started though watch out. LOL!!

  • Hi Maryjo!

Welcome (in advance) to Orlando! As the Orlando Turtle Runner, I feel it's important I extend a warm running hug to all of our running friends coming in for this event. :-)

My husband was a Disney employee (affectionately known as a cast member!) until just recently, so I feel like the parks are our 'home' and we're 'hosting.' :-) We aren't staying on property, but would be glad to meet up with you that morning. I just asked the Hubby and he says, yes, in the parking area/corrals will be good. I will be wearing a t-shirt with my blog name on the back: Running Circles Around the Turtles, so feel free to look for that (and probably a sign for good measure!). Also, I'm planning to meet up w/ blogging/running friends coming in from all over the U.S., so we'd be glad to say hello and run together. (Lots of paces and levels of experience... I'm a back-of-the-packer myself, but there are others a bit quicker.) Feel free to shoot me an e-mail if you'd like: TRTL.RNR@gmail.com Happy to exchange phone #s/e-mails,whatever... a few of us may be getting together for a pre-Princess pasta party (hee hee) late Sat afternoon (including hubbies/families). Welcome to join us (and anyone else who's interested... just e-mail me. Working on restaurant details. Should be about $12.00/person @ Olive Garden?). Looking forward to meeting everybody!
