HI!
I've got a 5K August 22nd. My first official race since 4th grade when I ran cross country and always came in last....I've come a long way since then!
157 days to my first 1/2 marathon in January - Disney World 1/2 Marathon.
Then the Princess half in March.
I may try to sign up for a 10K or something before January.posted over 2 years ago | Report

Hey Megan! I'm new to this site and started to look around because I'm a little scared. I made a goal to run the Disney Princess Half Marathon in March of 2010. I decided in June of 2009 and have been on a "slow train" since then. I have never ran before no less RACE...My first race is this coming weekend with my competetive husband at the Everest Challenge....I'm very nervous, but want to have fun just the same. I will plan to race a couple more 5K's and a 10K before our big Half in March!!! Hope you are training well!

Oooh, the Everest Challenge sounds like such fun! Definitely report back on that.
Nothing wrong with a slow train - it makes things that much easier later.
And for what it's worth, I've never done a half, but I've done some 10 mile races, and I like those WAY more than I like 5Ks. With a longer race, you can go slower, stop to walk if you want/need to, just take it easy. For me, 5Ks just feel like I'm running all out. But it's good to experience the race just the same!

Hey everyone! This will be my....9th half marathon I think? It is the week of my birthday, so I'm stoked, can't think of a better way to celebrate! I ran the 2008 Disney World Marathon, and they put on a FANTASTIC race. I can not wait for this one!
I have the myrtle beach half marathon coming up Feb 13th, and I hope to set a PR there. Then just HAVE FUN at Disney!
Oh, and I'm totally running in a tutu and tiara, haha! See you all there!

Hey Everyone!! I am Jolene and my good friend and I are taking a girls trip away from the kids and hubbies to run our first Disney Marathon. I told her I have never been the princess type, so she is being Sleeping Beauty and I am being Maleficent. I have a very goth tutu with green/purple/black that I got made on Etsy and a t-shirt with her on it that a fellow nurse got for me. I am super excited!! Nice thing is that it will be a fun race and a great way to meet other runners from all across the USA. I have never been the competitive type and run for pure love of running, so this marathon should be fun!!

Hi,
This will be my first half too. Just ran a 5 mile race this past Sunday at the pace I plan on doing the half with and I think it's do-able! Very excited but also very nervous. I've only been running for about a year, I'm slow but steady :) So far my longest run has been 7 miles so I'm slowly bringing it up. I'm driving down to Orlando on Saturday and leaving the kids and hubby at home. I want to enjoy the expo and get some good sleep (yea right) the night before, I'm not a morning person so this race should be interesting!Good luck everyone!
