Night Trail Running

... and then my headlamp went dead.

I was running MMT in 2007, and having a great race. It was 3 or 4 in the morning, and I was a couple miles outside of the next aid station. All of a sudden, my headlamp went out. It was pitch dark, and no one around for miles. Previously in the night, I had seen several bears. Needless to say, I was freaking out. I just froze, and waited. Another runner had to lead me into the next aid station. Everything worked out, but it sure was scary.

  • Wow. I would have been freaked out!

  • Yikes! That's scary!

I use Princeton Tec headlamps...I think they're the longest lasting headlamps out there.
