10 and 1s?

posted about 3 years ago | Report

I'm a big fan of Running Room's 10 and 1s for long runs. How about you? Do you run straight through, or do you take the walk breaks?

  • 10 and 1 is a great technique to get the mileage under your belt, especially as a beginner. I have been running since 1991, and learned this technique in 1994. However, if you want to be competitve at all at long (or short) distances, you have to ditch 10/1s for tempo and paced runs. My fastest marathons are essentially a series of mile repeats.
