Favorite trail runs around the DC area

Hi, I'm living in Washington DC and training for a 50k trail run in February. I'm looking for good long distance trails to train on. I'd love to hear recommendations from your favorite trail runs in this area. Thanks!

  Hi Kamran,
  I don't do much trail running, but check out this website: http://www.vhtrc.org/index.htm
  It is the Virginia Happy Trails Running Club. I know that they put on a fair amout of events.
  There is a park in Bull Run which is in the Centerville, VA area. There is also Algonkian Regional Park which is where the North Face Endurance Challenge is held.

  there is also rock creek park in DC if you are not able to drive somewhere. check out the web site at http://www.nps.gov/rocr/planyourvisit/things2do.htm
  There is also the C&O canal trail that follows the potomac.
