GRTC MILEStone Patches

Open to GRTC members:
In 2002, the GRTC introduced the MILEStone patch – a way to recognize members who accumulated a certain number of race miles (running only) throughout the year. A total of 64 folks – (13) Bronze, (5) Silver & (46) Gold – earned patches in our inaugural year. In 2009, a total of 113 earned their patches:

* Gold (200 or more miles) - 39
* Silver (100-199 miles) - 58
* Bronze (50-99 miles) - 16

The levels remain the same for 2010. Although you may submit your documentation in a variety of ways, you will ease our task considerably if you will create an Excel spreadsheet. The deadline for submitting your totals is January 8, 2010. The patches will initially be distributed at our Annual Awards Banquet to those in attendance. The rest will be mailed post-banquet.   Last year was my first year running and achieving the Bronze Milestone Patch made me feel like I was really a runner and not just out there doing a couple of 5Ks with friends. I think my patch is as cool as my half marathon medals.

  Great, Steve - that was the purpose in establishing this incentive for our members. Some have taken it to an extreme ala Tom Butler's 1000 miles in 2011, but a good percentage of our folks have truly embraced the concept. Good for you!
