What is your preferred/favorite protein/energy bar?

I'm training for the Vancouver Full Marathon. I'm eating healthy but wondering if I should supplement my protein with a bar? Any feedback?

  • they say about 1 third protein to 2 thirds carbohydrate .. I'd agree and whilst eating as healthy as i can do feel the need for a supplement.. I take a shake after my run which is the above combination - the carbs help put my energy back and the protein repair damaged muscle.. I would not advice eating protein before a run as it will have no effect directly.

  • I'm pretty much addicted to Cliff bar Builder protein bars (chocolate mint and peanut butter) because they don't taste like a bag of smashed booty and they are 270 calories of yum.

  • I eat a PowerBar before every key workout.
    I consume Hammer Perpeteum on all long runs.
    I use Endurox R4 as a recovery drink after every key workout.

    I like 'em all. :)

    Organic, no ingredients you won't recognize or can't pronounce, and made with brown rice protein, a complete protein in and of itself. One of the shortest list of ingredients I've experienced on a protein bar, which is excellent. 16 - 18 grams of protein per bar.

  • Absolutely nothing better IMO than AtLargeNutrition.com's Nitrean. The chocolate flavor mixes as easy as Quik and tastes like it, too! It's a nice blend of short- and long-lasting protein, so your muscles get what they need for now and later.
