My plan is to use www.dailyburn.com to log my nutrition.
It is a fantastic site and has lots of challenges as well.

I was using the DailyBurn app on my iPhone but switched to the Lose It app b/c I like how Lose It presents the data as a "budget," which motivates me to get in more activity -- more activity = more food lol.

No. The thought of counting every calorie for the rest of one's life is horrible. Even if you do it pretty well, and are only off by 5%, that's still 10lbs a year (based on a 2000 calorie burn/day).
It's probably OK to do it for a while, just so you get a good idea of portion size and calories. But, it's no way to live.

Yes but I only log what I eat and not calories. I make sure to highlight things that I have been eating too much of (sorry dunkin donuts :( ) so that I know where I can trim up and where I can indulge. I can also see if i feel crappy on a run, and I look back and I ate crappy food the previous day or before the run, I know what the bug in my exercise was. I also log my training and tally up miles so that I know how far or how close to a goal I am. I do log my weight but thats only every 2 weeks to a month (whenever I remember) just so I know I am maintaining an optimal weight (not too big and not too scrawny) and if I AM noticing a fluctuation from the normal weight I will review calories from the previous month with about.com's calorie counter. hope this helps!

I amvery interested to see others' responses here.
I have only seen success in weight loss keeping track of what I eat through Weight Watchers. This summer, I switched my focus from what I eat to running and completing a half marathon. While I wouldn't trade that for anything, I didn't lose any weight; I gained some of the weight I lost, while I still need to lose a few (or more than just a few) more pounds.
Now, I am tracking my calories with Spark People on many days but not all of them, and I am focusing strongly on controlling my emotional eating. I am continuing to run, and I am also refocusing on strength, flexibility, mental well-being and what I eat. I am really hoping to find a way to be happy with myself and my body without diligently tracking my food every day,

I do. I've been using caloriecount.com and have heard a lot of good things about sparkpeople. I wish I'd had this tool 20 years ago when I knew nothing about nutrition and was 50 pounds overweight as a teenager! Would have saved me a lot of grief (and $$ for counseling!). I started tracking after I'd lost about 70 pounds and my weight loss stalled, I needed to be a little more careful for those last few pounds. Now I'm working on reducing body fat, so like to see my macronutrient ratios and it's also a good way to make sure I'm getting all my micronutrients through my diet (not a fan of supplements).

I just started logging my food intake about three weeks ago and so far I think it is going well. I use the "I Will Lose Weight This Time Diet Journal" which I purchased at Books-A-Million. It has a nice set up and a graph to track weight loss. I tried Daily Burn for a day and felt it was too time consuming.

I'm currently using MyFitnessPal app on my iPhone. The companion site (http://www.myfitnesspal.com) is pretty good too.

Thanks to your question and other people's answers, I just started on www.dailyburn.com for my nutrition input. I have a very hard time with my portion control, so this kind of stuff helps me keep track of how much I'm eating. The site also has challenges (so I started one!), and since I'm a little competitive, it keeps me a little more accountable.

No. I figure as an average runner doing mostly local races what I eat or don't eat doesn't really matter, but that's just me. God Bless.+

I use dailyplate.com and measure my food portions. I will only do this until I lose the weight I want.

I've used the online tracking sites before and I get burned out, and a little crazy (oh no, I've only got 30 calories left for the day!) when I use them. Read something recently about just writing down everything you eat, then using two highlighters -- one to indicate foods you ate that support your goals, and another to indicate foods you'd like to eat less of. Yesterday's food looked great until I needed to stay up till almost midnight waiting for my son to get home from a concert. Handfuls of M&Ms were what I used to stay awake. :( Oh well, today's another day! :)

I have a fitbook I write in everyday and take with me in my purse. I has helped to keep me on track. I don't write calories, just the amount I ate and how I felt about it.

Used LoseIt app for the iPhone for three months or so, just to get a sense of my typical caloric intake. That, coupled with running, was a perfect combo. I don't track what I eat now; but, because of the time I used LoseIt, I'm more aware of the caloric value of my typical meal, and eat accordingly.

I think it can be beneficial to do it every once in a while - kind of like a reality check. It's so easy to forget just how much you are eating with today's food options. But to log that kind of information regularly, I just don't see it being too helpful unless you really over eat and need some thing visual to help change that.

I use Absolute Fitness on my Palm Pre. It really keeps me accountable for the calories I'm putting in my body versus those that I'm burning daily through lifestyle & workouts. Otherwise I'm pretty good at "assuming" I have a big enough burn for the day to have just a little bit more food.....and that just leads to trouble! :) A few months ago I made a commitment to track every calorie in and every calorie out until I hit my goal weight - so I'll be tracking for another 21 pounds.

I track all my food offline. I made an excel spreadsheet that calculates % caloric intake based off carbs, sugar, carbs-sugar, protein, fat, total sodium, calories etc etc. It works really well and my weight has been coming down steadily. But, I'm also incredibly nerdy. :)

I'm trying to lose a few lingering pounds, so yes, I do count calories and log them all on Sparkpeople.com. It's a great tool! I plan to continue counting after I hit my goal weight until I have a good grasp of maintenance.

I use sparkpeople.com and have lost over 150lbs since Jan 2010 (had a baby in that time too). I LOVE it, and if it takes tracking my calories o keep me in check then so be it. It beats the alternative.

I used to use Daily Burn, but didn't like it. I used another online tool from a gym that I belonged to. I now log my calories by hand. It usually works well.

I have used LoseIt (both website and app) for about a year and it's amazing. I've tried a few and this one has the combination of Great app + Great website + Great social community (kind of like DM!) I would LOVE if they'd merge, then my life would be much easier :)
