Is there a set of headphones that won't FALL OUT?!

posted over 3 years ago | Report

I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem, can someone help!? I've tried many different sets of headphones....they seem great at the beginning of the run, but once the sweat starts--forget it. Is there a set that won't fall out of my ears?! The last thing I want to worry about during a 12 mile run is my stupid headphones! (but I love to run with music) Any ideas? Thank you!

  • I use the Philips Sport Clip. You can get them at Target for 13.29. They wrap around the back of the ear so it doesn't matter how much you sweat (I sweat A LOT!). They stay put. They're not earbuds... earbuds in general seem to have better sound quality because of the isolation but I'd like to know if a car is honking at me. They usually last me about a year and then need to get replaced. I can't run without music so these are essential to me. I've tried a few different ones before but I keep going back to the Philips.

  • I have a set called Skull Candy - they are AWESOME!

  • Skullcandy are pretty good, but cut out a bit too much noise for my liking. Since 1987, my favorite style of headphones are the Sony Sports style. They go partially into your ear for more direct sound, but don't completely block out outside noises. They DO have a headband, though, so are a little more of a hassle if wearing a hat, but they're still my faves (Only on my 4th set, so they're durable).

  • The Sennheiser MX-75: http://tinyurl.com/mfeh4d
They look weird, but once you get them in there, they WILL NOT MOVE! I've had mine for the last 1500 miles, and the only problem I've had is that the top pieces of rubber sometimes fall off in my gym bag. However, they're bright green, so they're easy to see.

Very reasonably priced, and very good sound quality as well. Additionally, they don't completely cut out surrounding ambient sounds (approaching cars, barking dogs) that in-ear earbuds do.

  • The best set of earphones are the ones you never put in! Try going headphoneless... I highly recommend it.

  • I use the old school ones that don't go into the ear. Don't have the falling out problem, and then it isn't so loud you can't hear the sounds around you. Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Mdr-G45Lp-Street-Neckband-Headphones/dp/B0015AFVBC/ref=sr_1_45?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1253758880&sr=1-45

  • I ended up with earbuds and they work great for me, using the smallest attachment--I guess my ears must be little. Thanks all!

  • I LOVE yurbuds! They never, ever fall out and I sweat a TON. The only negative is that I've lost the yurbud attachment to the headphone because it gets stuck in my ear and when I tug on the cord the earbud comes out but the attachment doesn't (this only happens once they get a little old.) With my most recent pair I superglued the yurbud attachment onto the earbud and have not had a single problem.

  • I use the Jaybird Freedom Bluetooth headphones. no wires and you can shake your head really hard with sweat and all and they don't fall out. You will need to take a few minutes to get them all set up for your size ear, but they work awesome!
