New to dailymile - looking for friends.

Hi I am new to the website, a running friend of mine recommended it to me.

I have been running a 5K every month since October. I am currently training to Run the NFE Lincoln National Guard Marathon on May 6, 2012. To prepare for it I am planning on running a 13.1 mile Memorial March in March.

I am looking for friends to help motivate me on those days when I just don't feel like running, and to be able to cheer others on as they train for and reach their goals. Sept 2010 I was going to attempt my first 5K and chickened out so running more than 2 miles is a new thing to me.

  • You can do it! Motivation is a mental decision. Get a montra - mine is smooth, efficient, calm. over and over. Do some upper body strength work and core and you will be busting out the miles in no time. you go girl

  • FR sent. I've been on DM for awhile, but just as a personal log, just started exploring and found the forums. Good for you in getting ready for a marathon. Trying to talk myself into it. Ran my first 1/2 last year, wasn't that long ago when I couldn't even run a mile. Greatest experience!!! Good luck!
