I have not experienced a stress fracture but maybe it is the scar tissue. I have that going on with my knee. I am doing acupunture to inrease the blood flow for healing and to help with the scar tissue. You might get it checked out to see if you re-injured of if the area around where the stress fracture was is weak. Hope you feel better. I am going on 2 month's of rehab for my knee probably another 2 weeks and we are going to try walk to jog.

I'm going to a take a random stab at this. What has likely happened is that your bones and muscles have all technically healed. What's probably not surprising (at least based off my own experience with shin splints and my brother's experience with stress fractures) is that depending how badly your tibia was fractured, it's likely going to remain weak for a much longer period of time that it took to heal. I would highly recommend exercises that will strengthen the muscles involved, particularly the tibialis anterior (in my case). Perhaps since you took 2 months off that when you came back you over-exerted yourself (ran too much/too fast) or ran with poorer form compared to before and you are at risk of re-aggrivating your injury.

I am not surprised that you have some pain in the same area. I have had a few stress fractures that healed after 4-6 weeks, but still have pain in the same areas sometimes. It may be a weak spot for you.
