Knees seem to be a common problem!

posted about 2 years ago | Report

Hello

Had a look at a few posts but all problems seem a little different, worse than mine. Tried running the other day and only managed a mile. Best I can describe is that my right knee became very sore. I could have probably carried on but decided best to get home. Walking was ok however.

Today I went for a near 7 mile run. I had a bandage on my knee for some support and that seemed to help. After a few miles it became rather sore and now I'm home it's painful when I move my leg. Does not seem a major problem but not quite sure if I would be best resting up for more than a few days, just in case. For all I know it could just be because I am increasing my miles. Thanks in advance for any advice.

  • Just realised whilst trying to walk to the kitchen very painful shooting pains in my knee. Ouch!

  • Well since I am sidelined due to knee issues I guess I am a bit jaded LOL Shooting pains were my first sign that maybe something was not right. I however thought it was good to go out the next day and run and PR a 5 K NOT GOOD. In any case listen to your body. Go get the knees checked out. My issue is very complicated and advanced but it came on because of too much training, too many miles in a short span 3 1/2 Marathons in 42 days then the 5 K right after that streak. So if you are following a training plan stick to the mileage and don't try to increase too fast. My shooting pain is just one of a multitude of knee issues and is a bakers cyst. I am now in PT been off running for 4 weeks and it looks like another 8-10 weeks before they try me on walk to jog to see if I can run pain free.

So Ice Rest Elevate and all but pay attention to anything shooting and if that continues even after and lower miles.
