try rolling your head around and shoulder shrugs before a run this might helo loosen up the area

When I run, if i don't make a conscious effort to drop my shoulders down and relax them they end up getting hunched up to my ears (or so it feels) and then my shoulders get too tight and then I wind up using my foam roller and making an appointment with my massage therapist.
