Inner Right Knee Pain

asked over 2 years ago | Report

Pain in the Inner Right knee area, pain is manageable and comfortable when running. Someone said it could be torn or pulled ACL or MCL and may need surgery, I really hope not, since running is my passion. Inner Area of the knee is also a bit tender to the touch or pressure by finger. Icing makes it the pain go away. Just did a 10 Mile Trail run Sunday Nov 1. All day Sunday felt no pain. Today, Monday a bit painful when walking. But tonight the pain is much less. Any suggestions or advice will be real helpful. Thanks

Does anyone know how painful is to have a pulled or torn ACL or MCL? Thanks

Sounds familiar. Little to no pain during activity but next morning is a different story all together. Can take 30~45 secs before leg able to take weight and even then have a limp for a short while.
Go get it checked. MRI will probably be reqd to see what's goin on in there but the following site outlines some of the procedures

  • I have the same pain, inner right knee pain, tender to the touch but icing helps. The dull pain is manageable while running but it's a different story walking, bending, or extending my leg. When I looked it upI was thinking it was either runner's knee or actually to me it sounds more like plica syndrome. I wouldn't think that you could run with a torn acl or mcl but i dont know. let me know if you go to the doctor, i'm just cutting back mileage and icing and hoping it goes away

  • Whenever I've had knee pain like that, it turned out to just be tendinitis. When that happens to me, trick is finding the pain point and then icing it to help it to go away. Good luck!

  • I went through about a year of what you describe...somedays great...somedays not. I would do 15 or so miles on a bike three or four times a week. Then during the summer (2009) it became more sensitive and I was limping. Near the end of September I turned while racking some weights and it was a symphony of F words as the plica in my knee tore.

Doc thought meniscus, but said he would know more once he got inside my right knee. Turned out to be the plica - which was the worse of the two to happen. It's been three months and I still swell, have pain riding and can't do a squat to save my soul. I was told it would take three to six months to heal. As far as the pain...the ER doc asked me the 1 to 10 scale thing and I said I have no idea. He asked me to describe how the pain felt. I told him if he had been standing beside me when it happened....I would have ripped his face off. Now, an hour later, just gouging the eyes is enough. :)

    Hope this helps.
