Extensor Tendonitis of the foot?

asked 7 months ago | Report

In particular the extensor digitorum longus tendon (extends the four small toes), what do you guys know about that tendon? I've been running/power walking around 40 miles a week for a while now and recently the top of my foot has started hurting. I've read articles on "top of the foot" pain and this seems to fit it perfectly. I'm fairly sure it's not broken because I can touch the bones and move everything around. It just hurts especially when doing anything (walking, running) and also after resting for awhile and then trying to move it. I'm really bad about stretching so any suggestions to help stretch it and the adjoining calf muscles so I can keep moving. Also, it's not ill fitting shoes. I have mine custom fit including gait analysis, etc. I do have "flat feet" due to hyperflexibility (I'm very double jointed and the entire foot collapses when I step down). My shoes are linear platform and mobility control to compensate with solid arch supports.
