Anyone running with a labral tear in their hip?

asked 9 months ago | Report

I have a labral tear in my left hip. I've had a cortisone injection 7 months ago. It's been very successful so far. I've been able to get bck up to 5 miles of running (tear only affected my running, I could do everything else). Only now I'm having back problems. This new development is due to how tight my hips and rear are (read: not flexible). I've been in rehab now for 3 weeks with noticeable improvement. However, I can feel the throb of my hip. It scares me to death when I can start feeling that! Anyway, I have to stay off running a bit. Any suggestions for other cardio to keep me in running shape? I've been swimming and biking a lot instead. Anyone else running with a labral tear? How are you feeling with that?

  • Hi Kelly, I had a sharp pain on the inside of my thigh a month ago towards the end of a 14 mile run. I stayed off my leg for a week, ran a 5k race two weeks later and still felt a twinge when I ran. The pain flaired up again a week ago on another long run and I'm wondering if I have a labral tear in my hip. It's my left hip as well. I haven't been to the doctor and I'm sure they'll say no running for 4-6 weeks. I suffered a tibia stress fracture a few years ago and I used a rowing machine to help keep my cardio up. Stay in touch. I'd like to know how your recovery goes. I may just be in the same boat! : (
