Running Bibs

posted about 1 year ago | Report

I was just curious if anyone decorates a home or work office with you medals and race bibs? Currently my bibs are just in a manila folder and I think that's a shame. Some real sweat went into earning those. Any creative ideas what I should be doing with my bibs.

  • I pin my bibs to my slider drape in my bedroom...on the side we don't move...i like them there...a manilla envelope would look funny

  • Mine go on my classroom wall... I'm a teacher!... a daily reminder for me and hopefully some motivation for my students!?!

  • Same here. Most of my running bibs are currently stored between pages of a thick and heavy book to keep the bibs wrinkle-free and flat as possible. Finisher medals uhmm...they are somewhere lying around in my room...

  • I have a workout room that has my medals on wall, bibs on another, my Mylar sheets on the other, intermixed with some quotes, pre posters, and race pictures. I am going to be moving soon so I am not sure if I will have room for a workout room in my new home but I sure hope so. Seeing them everyday reminds me of each race and I what I need to do to improve.

  • ... daily reminders of where we've been, why we're doing it and maybe whats next are what runners need in those weak moments!

  • I think I may do this too in my chemistry classroom. I agree it will help motivate them and let them see that, "wow, Mr. Hoffman does stuff outside of school!"

  • @Josh - They might be shocked that you actually leave school in my experience. I have Primary kids and I'm sure they think I get locked away in a cupboard at the end of the day! They seem so shocked to see me outside school!

  • Nothing creative. I staple them in my running journal on the week I raced in them. I sharpie my distance and time on it.

  • Some of mine are on my "motivation desk" an old, wooden teacher's desk painted in bright pink. The rest were in my classroom, which sadly burned in May. I lost some of my most prized memories in that fire.

I've been collecting since May to start another wall in my new classroom. I think it's a good role model to show kids that you're never too old to keep challenging yourself.

  • @ Tory - Sorry to hear about the fire. I know as a teacher the sorts of things that you have collected over the years that would have been lost. Good luck covering that wall again. ... lots of teachers running!!! Hmmmm! ;0)

I've never had one made, but I've heard good things about them. Something useful to do with all of those bibs and such.

Mine are hard to keep flat since my tradition is to wrinkle it right away and chew on it the night before the race. All stored away waiting for a creative spark.

  • That's neat that people are displaying their racing bibs. Mine are in a the shoebox from my first pair of running shoes, along with my finish line photos when I've gotten them, my one finisher's medal, and the flashing Santa hat I got a 5K in December.

I like the idea of the Mile 22 bags. :) I'm saving my race shirts for a quilt some day, although I'm not sure if I trust myself enough with scissors and sewing machine to make it myself.
