Some hip opener yoga poses may help.

If stretching doesn't loosen it up, sometimes a chiropractic adjustment helps, might be out of alignment. Of course, then you should continue stretching so you don't need to go back every week.

Thanks for your advice, I will definitely keep that in mind if the stretches don't begin to help.

Funny I've had the same issue. I thought it was a lot of different things and even got checked by a doctor. I've narrowed it down to hip flexor issues, specifically a tight psoas muscle. Lots of good stretching has all but made it go away within a week or two. If you google "psoas stretches" you'll find a bunch. For me, the psoas also led to some minor back pain every now and then too.
