This is a good start! Pimp your blog on your DM profile by putting up a note with a link to your post when it'sposted. Do the same with Facebook/Twitter etc. That will get some attention. You got me to check it out. :)

The only thing I've found that will grow traffic is compelling content and time. As long as you keep writing what you really care about, the followers should come. I share whenever I post on Google+ and Twitter. I've also networked with several other running/weight loss bloggers on Twitter so we can all support each other.
If you want to believe people who talk about things like Search Engine Optimization (SEO) as a way to drive traffic, that's fine. I occasionally find a way to work popular words into my posts... but you have to be really careful about it. It can't look like you're doing it intentionally or people will just think it's fake. In fact, the best way to do it is completely unintentionally. (Advice like this is why people think writers don't make any sense.)
As a writer, my biggest tip is to find your voice, your own style of writing. Blogging is mostly about writing, and being a successful writer is about finding a way to tell people something that ONLY YOU can tell them. Once you master that (though no one ever does, really), traffic will come to you.
I'll follow once I get home tonight! I love keeping up with other runners. My blog is http://jenistotallylost.blogspot.com I find Daily Mile is great for meeting people and finding others who might enjoy your content. Like Adam said, you to me to check it out! :)

Well pimping the blog on here certainly helps, Depending on why you blog can depend on how you go promoting it. I use mine - Why Outrun The Bear - http://wotb.absoblogginlutely.net for the interesting times and runs/races in my beginning running (Started July 2011) and more of a diary of some of the longer runs I've done. There's only so much you can fit on dailymile (or runkeeper). One thing you may want to do is include geographical information information in your blog - that way you might get people searching for other runners in your area. Also, find out if any of your other running buddies have blogs, If you don't have other running buddies, check out your local running store and join their club runs ;-) Also, relevant commenting on other blogs with a link back to yours will help, you might get the owner reading your blog, linking to it and their readers might also follow through to.
Also make sure your blog appears in google and bing and put key words that you are targeting in the first line of your blog post if possible (but not in a spammy way).
For instance - rather than writing "second race today. Had a good time blah blah...." Make the title "Race Name, Location - second race"....That way if people are searching for other bloggers for the upcoming or recent race they might find yours.
It's certainly a long haul to become famous and start getting those giveaways/freebies ;-)
Hope this helps.posted 10 months ago

Try Pinterest! I started selling some lesson plans on a site called TeachersPayTeachers, and I have about 700 followers on pinterest. I "pin" what I create, and right now I have over a hundred views on my material from doing that alone.
You could do it anonymously- pin a link to a story and say "This girl really knows her stuff! Love her running program!" or something like that so people pin it, and share it.
Just a thought :) Good luck!

I have red/green color blindness, and that purple font is hard to see...The white on black works good. Keep at it.
