The only movie I own is Hood to Coast and it's a good one, but my favorite running movie is Running the Sahara. I watched that the night before my first 20 mile run and it definitely helped to think about the fact that if the men in that movie could literally run across the Sahara that I should be able to run 20 miles. I have a tradition of watching a running movie every Friday night before I do a long run on Saturday during marathon training so I've seen some good ones. A feW other favorites are Spirit of the Marathon, The Long Green Line and Runners High, all of which are documentaries.

Loved Hood to Coast, I have also seen "Saint Ralph", "Running the Sahara", "Spirit of the Marathon" and a documentary about Frank Lebow, founder of the NYC marathon but I don't recall the title. Many of those are on Netflix, not Hood to Coast though.

I would suggest "A Long Green Line" its a documentary about a high school cross country team. Very inspirational movie without giving too much of it away, i had tears come down my eyes parts of it!

I've been wanting to see Unbreakable: Western States 100, but there aren't any screenings where I live. Does anyone know if it's available online or for rental anywhere?

Running Brave with Robby Benson as Olympic 10k gold medalist Billy Mills is one of my favorites. The gold medal race is really exciting.

My running movie has nothing to do with marathon running or any other form of racing. The movie that inspires me to run is Wrong Turn. After seeing those characters run for their lives so their aren't killed, really inspires to want to be able too in the event I am ever in a situation where I need to run for life.

I watched The Spirit of the Marathon on Netflix last Saturday with my family. Very inspirational, especially since this year's Chicago marathon will be my first marathon. I have confidence that I can do it and finish strong!

Thanks for the suggestions! Now that I'm spending time on hotel dreadmills with my ipad these will help.
I watch St. Ralph that way and it was great. I highly recommend it.
Spirit of the Marathon is a much-watch for anyone doing Chicago or who as done it.

Can't beat Chariots of Fire, what a quality film :)
I think I should try and watch Run Fatboy Run again before my marathon attempt in a few weeks time, but I can't stand the scene where they burst the massive blister on his foot...it's totally gross!
