Anyone recommend the St. George Marathon?

posted about 3 years ago | Report

I'm thinking about doing the St. George Marathon in Utah - has anyone done it? Recommendations?

  • By the way - it's in October.

  • I've heard it's a really fast course. But, you may have a little trouble find a post-race brew.

  • I have heard good things as well, in particular it is a fast course. Many folks use as Boston Qualifier

  • I did St George last year. The weather was uncommonly poor - cold and rainy.
Very well run and organized. Pretty course starting up in the hills above town and running into town square. Downhills get pretty steep at points, but certainly a fast course.

  • The lottery for the 2009 St. George marathon has already been finalized. There may be other, less conventional ways of obtaining entry.

The course is fantastic and fast. The weather is almost always excellent (last year was the first rain during the marathon in 28 years).

  • Haven't done it but have wanted to for several years. Heard it is a absolutely beautiful course, growing up in UT and spending plenty of time in St. George I know it would hold up that end of the deal! Quite breathtaking!

Also heard it is a fast course too. You do have to put in for the lottery, it is kinda tough to get in. Getting a post-race brew isn't that difficult, there are some nice choices and some great micro-brews available!

Another alternative is the Moab Marathon or Half Marathon, every bit as beautiful as St. George.
