Best Songs about Running!

asked over 5 years ago | Report

I'm looking to put together a list of the top ## songs about running (not sure how long it is yet). I would like for every song mentioned to have something to do with running or at least have the word run in it or be about going the distance... etc... You know, songs that would make a good running montage.

Examples:
U2, Still haven't found what I'm looking for.
The Proclaimers - I Would Walk 500 Miles...
(someone please put those on there, because it wont let me do it)

Since this is asked in question form, please post one artist and song at a time so everyone can vote (thumbs up or thumbs down).

Looking forward to hearing your songs!

  • "Running Up that Hill" by Kate Bush!

In addition to a beat that provides a great cadence, it includes in the chorus:

    And if I only could
I'd make a deal with God
And I'd get him to swap our places
    Be running up that road
    Be running up that hill
    With no problems...

  • "Long Distance Runner" by Fugazi.

    Band: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fugazi
    Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bm30_yddY5M
    Lyrics: http://snurl.com/9u8j2

The song is not so much a rousing, anthemic, pump-you-up tune, more like a hard slow slog. Use the beat for cadence only if you are shuffling and/or collapsing.

I read somewhere that the bassist Joe Lally is an ultramarathoner. His bass captures the feeling well here.

"The farther I go the less I know" Lord oh lord, too effin' true.

    I don't know what I'm doing all I know is I don't wanna stop
All fired up, I'm gonna go 'til I drop
You're either in or in the way, don't make me I don't wanna stop"
