Hi Brenna,
I have scoliosis, albeit a very mild form. It has never stopped me running. If anything it keeps my back and neck mobile. It does mean I do run with what's called a "chin thrust" where my head bobs forward almost like a chickens bobbing clucking movement (if that makes sense?!!) which to bystanders can look a little awkward but it's just the way it is. I can't say ignore the doctors advice, afterall they are professionals, but for me it won't stop me from getting out there. Just take it run by run and see how it goes. Best of luck to you and feel free to FR me if you want any advice or support!answered 4 months ago |edited 4 months ago |Report

I got disqualified from doing Air Crew because the Navy says I have scoliosis, but they haven't told me I had to change one thing in my life. We have to run 1 1/2 miles every 6 months or so, so I figure if there was a reason to have to stop they would have told me I had to take the other cardio options for the semi annual test. Also considering I just finished a 15k, I don't feel like it made a difference anyway.
