Looking for a quality short/bib...

posted 9 months ago | Report

My brand new pair for Castelli bibs had the stitching unravel during the first ride. I haven't even washed them yet. ugh :[

Does dailymile have any recommendations on "quality" shorts/bibs?

At the moment, I'm considering the Pearl Izumi Slice Ultrasensor and not very sure if I want to buy euro stuff again.

  • Well, you should go back to the shop with the Castelli, there must be a production fault for something like that to happen - I've never had problems with my Castelli shorts.

The best cycling bibs are made by Assos, they're in a league of their own, but dreadfully European I'm afraid... :-)

  • Hi Jules,
I'm a 100% Assos fan. Never been disapointed. There are quite expensive but I feel I'm getting my money's worth. My first pair is 10 years old and I still wear it at least once a week.

  • I've also had good luck w/ Castelli bibs in the past. Perhaps you got a bad pair.

I prefer Giordana, but would love to try Assos once I get over the idea of spending $250 for a pair of shorts.

  • Whoa! I looked up Assos and those prices are definitely serious business.
I think I'll stay under the sub-$150 price range for now... just for now.
