Since it looks like you are a runner I will make a bold suggestion, kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Garmin 305, and add the GSC10 (speed and cadence sensor) and handlebar mount. You will then be able to use it year round indoor or out. Total cost would be about $200 maybe a little more. It's the time of year to talk to Santa, if the form factor of the 305 is too large any of the higher units will work too, at a greater cost.
Most cyclometers can be mounted to the rear wheel so they can be used indoors with the trainer. I have the Blackburn with (wired) cadence, and have had no issues with it, so will recommend it.
It all depends on your budget and wants / needs, HRM, Cadence, Temp, Speed, Distance and Time are all available, the most basic will give you Speed, Time and Distance.
