Full-finger gloves suited for summer cycling?

asked almost 2 years ago | Report

I prefer a full-finger glove, even in the summer - wacky, I realize(I typically only eat ice cream in the winter, go figure). Have used MTB gloves but I'm wondering if there is a full finger glove more suited to road riding. Snug fit, moisture wicking, grippers on fingers and palm, less bulk than typical MTB gloves.

thanks

  • It's a personal preference thing. First summer I was here I used full fingered MTB gloves. Second summer I used fingerless gloves. The fingerless gloves offered dexterity and grip so I'd probably go back to that, but TBH the fingered gloves lasted longer. The fingerless ones seem to fall apart at the seams after 2000'ish mi of use, which puts me at a new set of gloves every 5-7 weeks.

There are full fingered gloves that are more suited to road riding, however you'll pay more for it. The fingerless ones are cheaper. Ask your LBS for a catalogue, and maybe try a few different bike shops. For example, this came up on a google search:
Pearl Izumi Select Gel Full Finger Glove

They have similar products too, and other brands have equivalents. Find one that you like and buy it :)

  • I ride full finger gloves all the time as well. I think having rode and raced motorcycles when I was a kid got me into wearing them early. I feel it's just better protection anyway if you hit the deck.

I have a bunch of the Specialized BG Gel gloves that I like:

They run a little small if you buy a pair.
