Log whatever you want - it's effort you put in. Most people indicate whether it's trainer riding or not (I've found), so those who read that so-and-so did 150 mpw know whats up.
For me a lot of times it is more about time. 60 minutes on the trainer may be more miles than 60 minutes on the road, but 60 minutes at continuous effort on a trainer > 60 minutes on the road when you can coast.

I've been doing hard intervals on the trainer. You bet those miles count, legs hurt the same whether they're on a trainer or on the road.
